So I have played ball, jumped on the trampoline, and put up a tent for them...still bored. Sheesh,I havent been able to find a moments peace to study today.I am glaad we put up the tent, tonight we are gonna roast marshmellows and watch a movie in our tent. That should be fun but still.....I'm bored too. Yes,I admit it. I want so very badly to go to the beach RIGHT NOW!! I am pouting as I write this.  Humph!!!
Sooooooooo.in an attempt to cheer myself up I am reminding myself that I am SO CLOSE to being DONE with Real Estate school and I will have a GREAT NEW CAREER..Also, I WILL be able to go to the BEACH in a few months so I will just get prepared. =)  I will start by searching blog land for some

Happy Birthday Daddy and Dad!

On Sat we celebrated or Dad's Birthdays. Mine and Joels dad's both have March Birthdays only about a week apart so we decided to have a Double Dad Party. The theme wasnt a theme at all, more of a life Lesson-Enjoy the simple things-so we had all the simple joys they loved in their childhood.
What We Ate
We grilled Hamburgers and Hotdogs,Coleslaw,Chips and Dip (my special dip recipe) Sugar free chocolate cake with very few rainbow sprinkles. (joels dad is diabetic but still, everyone deserves a cake on their birthday).Cherry Pies(6 of them are also sugar free),Moon pies, four types of old fashioned candy(gumballs, wax soda bottles, pixie stix, and peppermint),cracker jacks, root beer, cream soda, coke with cherries near for cherry cokes, and butter pecan ice cream. YUMMY!!!!
How I Decorated
I chose simple colors,Red,White, and Aqua ! I laid out a simple red stripe peice of fabric as a cloth. It's frayed at the ends and I loved that about it.I put the candy in candy store style jars I picked up at Hobby Lobby. I printed ot a few simple(i say simple but my computer was giving me heck that day, sheesh!) food labels and a small Birthday pennent banner.I bought a few buckets at the Dollar Tree for Drinks, chips and moon pies.I also made a super special dip bowl.We (Me and Cameron,my youngest son) made the bowl out of a vinyl LP(See my Tutorial here) of hits from 1960,thats my Dads birth year.
We gave it to him after the party,He loved it!! I also baked the Cherry pies in lil mason jars and in a way, that was kinda part of the decoration. They looked great on the tablescape.
Happy Birthday,Thanks for teaching me to appreciate the simple things in life.
=)

This Party was a big Thumbs up!!

Vinyl Lp Bowl

Hi ya. I'm gonna share a very kool very easy project with ya'll today.
Vinyl Lp Record Bowl

Lets check the supply list
  1. Vinyl Lp (I got mine from the thrift store)
  2. A metal bowl or cake pan
  3. A cookie sheet
  4. An oven
  5. An adorable lil helper.

Now lets make our Rockin Bowl.
Grab your Lp and have your super cute helper pull it out of the sleeve.

Preheat your oven to 200 degrees

Place your metal bowl upside down on a cookie sheet. Then lay your Lp on top of the bowl.
Now place it in the oven. Make sure you keep it at 200 degrees and no higher!!Now wait ..................................

While waiting explain to your helper that we dont have a record player and the LP is not getting ruined. Cameron was VERY upset that I was "melting" a perfectly good record. haha. He was loving it when it was done so he forgave me =)

This is what it looked like after 5 min in the oven. I left it in there for about 10 min total.
Now Pull it out of the oven and let it cool while still on the bowl. I waited 10 min and it was Perfectly cool.
It will still have a hole in the bottom so be aware of that when considering what to put in it. You can wash it with soapy water but  DO NOT put in the dishwasher or microwave.
I put a smaller bowl down in it to hold my Chip dip.
What do ya think??
Thanks for checkin out my post.

Leprechaun trap

Leprechaun Trap
This is the not Lucky left for us.
This is our first year to do anything with the boys for St Paddys Day officially . I'm sure you have seen these Leprechaun traps all over the blogosphere and ours isan't much different, we just made it our own . Because I am ALWAYS running behind(this blog should be called "Runninglate Cottage" , our paint and glitter was still a bit wet during assembly . Still we persevered !! We just used cardstock to make the hat shape, we used a scrap piece of Cricut vinyl for the hat band and an index card, cut and glittered, for the buckle. Then we made a ladder out if pipe cleaners to help him climb to the "trick" top of the hat. This is where he will fall thru and be trapped until we get our three wishes I was explaining this to the boys in the car today and my eight year old smarty pants says " Um mom, leprechauns don't exist . The are MYTHICAL creatures as in Not Real!! " I tried to argue and his response was a hand in the air , a sad look in his eye(he didn't want to disappoint me ) and the words " just google it " !! Haha Later I have him convinced that just maybe they could exist as we just finished the trap. Now he asked" Hey mom, are we leaving this on the table? " Yes of course, why ?? ....... " Well if the Leprechaun needs a ladder to climb into the hat how can he get on the table?"". Are you kidding me??? Lol he is too smart but still I stacked boxes on the ground to help him reach the table . We Also hung a coloring sheet we made if a rainbow above the hat/trap for extra fun. I have made up some treats that Lucky the leprechaun will leave behind. It's just rainbow twizzlers and rolos in a snack bag. I printed off a note to leave as well. I'm sure Lucky will get into some trouble while he visits as well. Turning the milk green, leaving footprints behind, painting the boys up while they sleep . I will post an update tomorrow on the aftermath and the pics of the treats. If I do it now I will be totally busted as my youngest keeps peeking out of his room. He jus informed me that I need to go to bed too or we will never catch a Leprechaun. I love bring a rockin Mommy. Good night for now !! More in the Am !!

Its March 17th 2012
Happy St Patricks Day
The boys ate all the treats before I even heard them up so I didnt get any better photos. =(
Still we had fun with it and next year I will be more prepared (haha why do I kid myself)
They loved the green in their hair they saw in the mirror this morning even more than the candy. Also,Lucky left a few footprints on the table as well.We had Lucky Charms and leprechaun milk(made from lucky clovers...wink wink) for breakfast. I hope you all have a LuCkY day and DONT GET PINCHED!
